Welcome at PK Marine

With over 40 years experience in developing innovative solutions to difficult automation problems, PK Marine is justified to claim that she has made her mark in the maritime world, in particular when it comes to controlling the motions of a (manned / autonomous) ship with the means available, to define how best to inform operators about alerts and to how best to set-up cooperative research & development.

PK Marine aims at designers, integrators and end-users that have an interest in improving the performance of ship designs and ship system designs, and can show them what is possible by applying modern technology and modern ways of cooperative innovation.

PK Marine offers 4 areas of expertise:

How to control whatever movement (heading, roll, pitch, 3d-speed, 3d-position) of any type of ship given the properties of its sensors and its actuation systems, even those ships notoriously difficult to control
How best to implement alert management functionalities in ship automation systems, also to comply with IEC 62923-1/2 (Bridge Alert Management).

The ins and outs of Autonomous ships and the related technology requirements

Sinds 2016, PK Marine is involved with the Rotterdam University of Applied Science by proposing multi-disciplinary development projects for students with different (mostly technical) backgrounds and guides them during these projects thereby teaching them about conducting innovation projects. Since 1-10-2019, PK Marine is also CRKBO certified for teaching young professionals in order to upgrade their abilities in designing advanced (model based) control systems.
